The secret to juicy burgers
View allFreshDirect is collaborating with Beef Checkoff to feature our high-quality, direct-from-the-farm beef. Ever wonder how your fave burger joint keeps their patties nice and juicy? The magic is in starting with a ball-shapped patty. First, heat a skillet (cast iron is best, but any very lightly oiled pan will do!) on high heat. Form your meat into a round ball, season, and place into the hot pan. Press down with a spatula for 1 1/2 minutes - be sure to apply constant pressure but don't squeeze out the juices! Flip and repeat pressing on the opposite side until cooked to your liking. Done and done. USDA recommends cooking ground beef to a safe and savory 160ºF.

Build the Perfect Grazing Board
View allWant to make a stunning grazing board? First, you'll need the perfect mix of cheeses. Start with texture, and aim for a mix of firm, semi-firm, and soft cheeses. Beyond that, a variety of milk types will please everyone - try a blend of cow, sheep, and goat milk cheeses. Then, start to pair. Charcuterie (like crowd-pleasing prosciutto), seasonal fruit, nuts, and preserves all help balance the full fat of the cheese and elevate the flavors. For some crunch, add locally-made crackers, crostini or bread. Tip: 2-3 ounces of cheese per person is just about right!
