Mango oranges are most commonly grown in Italy. The sweet flavor of the Mango orange is mixed with more tart and acidic varieties such as the Valencia orange, limequat, or Marrakech limonette to create a balanced, sweet-tart juice. Mango oranges are best suited for raw applications as their sweet flesh and juice are showcased when consumed fresh. The flesh can be sliced or wedged and consumed as a stand-alone snack, or it can be tossed into green salads and fruit bowls. Mango oranges are also popularly juiced and are used in fruit juices, smoothies, syrups, candies, and in baked goods such as cakes, tarts, bars, and muffins. In addition to juicing, the fruit is also used for its zest, which is sprinkled over beverages and cocktails. Mango oranges pair well with herbs such as mint, cilantro, and basil, chocolate, almonds, walnuts, coffee, meats such as poultry, pork, duck, and fish, cardamom, nutmeg, and goat cheese. The fruits will keep for a couple of days at room temperature and 1-2 weeks when stored in the refrigerator. Flavors by Bhumi began with a quest to grow some of the most incredible citrus from around the world locally in New Jersey. Nowadays, this grower is known among chefs and food artisans for fresh and superior quality produce. They take their name from the Hindi word for "Mother Earth," to whom they entrust the care of their fruit trees. (from Flavors by Bhumi)
