Jean-Marc Lafont Morgon Côte du Py
2022, Gamay 100%, France
For the last 170 years, Domaine de Bel Air has perched over the Ardieres Valley, overlooking the historic capital of Beaujeu. It is here that owner/ winemaker Jean-Marc Lafont and his wife Annick have been running the estate since 1985. By keeping with tradition and staying in tune with the terroir of the region through their sustainable farming practices, they produce highly expressive wines full of grace and balance. This 100% Gamay comes from 50+ year old vines on the famed slope of Côte du Py, considered one of the greatest vineyards in all of Beaujolais. It displays sexy, highly perfumed aromas of fresh raspberry and candied rose, with white pepper, allspice and blood orange notes adding complexity. Supple and seamless on the palate, offering sappy dark berry and cherry compote flavors, finishing with excellent thrust and length. Pairs well with pork and roasted chicken, stews and hearty fish dishes. (from the vintner)
