Easy Ground Meat Lettuce Wraps

When you’re in a weeknight rush, nothing beats a dish that packs exciting flavors while coming together effortlessly. One such recipe is lettuce wraps with ground meat, which is inspired by the Thai dish larb.

n a pinch, we love to use the seasoning starters from Omsom, which have everything you need to recreate bright and fragrant aromatics of the original. But for something quick with items you might already have in your pantry, we like to create a a soy-sauce based mixture that has tons of umami flavor.

With some ground chicken or turkey, lettuce, and rice for serving, these wraps will come together in minutes. You don’t even have to assemble them if you don’t feel like it: just bring everything to the table and let everyone put them together on their own.

Easy Lettuce Wraps With Ground Meat

What You’ll Need:
1/3 cup soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 rice vinegar
Vegetable oil
8 ounces cremini mushrooms, finely chopped
1 pound ground turkey or chicken
3 scallions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
Lettuce leaves and cooked rice, for serving

In a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, and rice vinegar; set aside.

Sauté mushrooms with a little oil in a pan over medium heat. Once they’ve lost their moisture, transfer to a plate and set aside. Return pan to stove over medium high heat. Add another 2 teaspoons oil and ground chicken or turkey. Break up the meat with your utensil and sauté until browned and cooked through.

Stir in the mushrooms, chopped scallions, and garlic. Cook 1 minute. Pour over soy sauce mixture and cook, tossing, for 1 minute more. Remove from heat.

To serve, take some lettuce leaves and fill each with a little bit of cooked rice, then heap over some of the ground meat mixture.
